Flourishing Floodplains Project

Updated: Nov 28, 2023

Frank and Carole Bowe signed up for three workshops in 2022 to learn about wildflower growing and planting for the Go Wild in Ashleworth project. The course was 3 days in May, June and September in Churcham, Gloucestershire led by botanist Liz Bookes from Ecohab Wildflowers nursery and Dr Sue Kinsey, Wetland Engagement Officer WWT. Flourishing Floodplains runs from Sept 2021 - March 2023 and aims to restore at least 20 hectares of floodplain meadow in the Severn Vale using local provenance seed, greenhay and wildflower plug plants.

The courses aimed to raise awareness and enthuse people about the importance and beauty of floodplain meadows and the wildflowers that grow in these meadows.

Frank and Carole have grown plug plants and collected seed to plant around our village and hope these will flourish and encourage wildlife.
